Russell has been sketching buildings from a young age since being inspired by his father who was also an architect. He sketches in pencil and watercolour but prefers the medium of pen and ink on tracing paper.

Russell has exhibited in The Royal Academy, Venice Biennale and many other locations around the world from Brazil, US and Istanbul. His drawings have been published in many magazines and publications and he has taught perspective and life drawing to many organisations including Cardiff University.
